I am NOT the right guy for you…
On January 24th, at 6pm on the dot, I stepped out on my balcony and watched the first Electron rocket launch from NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia. (Did you hear about it?)
I watched as the bright orange dot moved through the sky in a straight and unchanging path straight up until the second stage deployed and it disappeared on its way to outer space.
So why am I telling you this?
For better or worse, we like to draw analogies between businesses and rocket ships an awful lot. In most cases, having a business take off like a rocket is considered the pique of success.
But here’s the thing.
Once a rocket ship lifts off, that’s it. It’s entirely out of our control.
Just like the rocket I watched last week, there’s only one direction it’s heading, and it’s a constant acceleration until it gets to space. So you’d better buckle up.
Have you ever spoken with the leader of a company that’s built like a rocket ship?
They’re doing amazing things. But they’re also stressed out, burnt out, and spending all their time in their business.
Most of us didn’t start our business to put ourselves in this position. Most of us want more time, not less. Most of us want less stress, not more. Most of us have a family we’d like to see from time to time.
But you also want to grow your business, right?
If you’re nodding along, then you my friend, want something other than a rocket ship.
You want something that you can actually drive. You want a steering wheel you can use to change direction. You want a gas pedal and brakes to speed up and slow down at your choosing.
You want to be in control of your business so that you have the freedom and autonomy to live your life.
And nothing can take the fun out of life quite like an out of control business.
So let’s ignore the pomp and bluster, the 7-figure coaches, the 10X growth people. That stuff isn’t real. Instead, let’s focus on what we really want – smart, intentional, sustainable growth.
If that’s the kind of growth you’re looking for, but your business is starting to fall apart at the seems, let’s talk.
I help business owners engineer their business so that it has the infrastructure to scale.
And scalability is all about being in control.
